The New York Knicks announced on Monday that they fired head coach Derek Fisher after less than two seasons.
The Knicks signed Fisher to a five-year contract as head coach immediately upon his retirement from the NBA as a player. He had no previous head coaching experience. Following the news, Fisher reportedly thanked the Knicks and Jackson for the opportunity
The Knicks are 23-31 this year, but have lost five games in a row and nine of their last ten games.
Kurt Rambis, who coached the Timberwolves from 2009 to 2011, will take over as interim coach.
