Broderick Earl-Ross, who is the starting quarterback at McMurry University which is a Division III school and is located in Abilene, Texas , was the third football player arrested for murder on Saturday in connection with the shooting death of a Fort Worth man earlier this month.
The victim, Chris-Dion Russell, 29, was shot at an apartment complex in Fort Worth , TX.
Russell, led the Hawks in passing and rushing yards last season as a freshman.
Two other McMurray football players, Ryan McBeth and Dontrell Dock, were arrested Wednesday. They're also facing capital murder charges.
Capital murder in Texas carries a penalty of life imprisonment or death.
The following statement was provided to KTAB/KRBC from McMurry University officials Wednesday:
"McMurry University is aware of a reported incident involving three of its students and is cooperating with authorities. As the incident involves students' person educational records, we are not at liberty to discuss the matter further."
