According to a report by ESPN's NFL Insider Adam Caplan, the Eagles have signed Brent Celek to a three-year, $13 million contract extension. FS1 NFL insider Mike Garafolo later confirmed the report.
If the Eagles cut Celek this offseason, they would have saved $5 million in cap space, and the cut wouldn't have carried any amount of dead money.
In 2015, Celek finished with 27 receptions for 398 yards and three touchdowns. In his nine-year career, which he has spent entirely with the Eagles, Celek has 371 receptions for 4,713 yards and 30 touchdowns. That's the 10th-most receiving yards in franchise history.
